Can Manatees Be Funky & Cool?

I say that they can be funky and hip and I think they are. These little (okay, not so little) guys that just want to swim around peacefully, maybe munch on some veggies. Yet, they manage to be at the center of a lot of attention. I think they deserve the attention, and our support, see what you think.

The Top Five Reasons The Manatee is the Funkiest Mammal

  • Look at their faces - they're adorable.
  • They have very distinct personalities.
  • They likely are what started the stories about mermaids.
  • They spend half their day sleeping.
  • They have a lot of support, hoping to keep them around a long while.

Manatees On Wikipedia

Manatees (family Trichechidae, genus Trichechus) are large, fully aquatic marine mammals sometimes known as sea cows. The Sirenia are thought to have evolved from four-legged land mammals over 60 million years ago, with the closest living relatives being the Proboscidea (elephants) and Hyracoidea (hyraxes).Domning, D.P., 1994, Paleontology and evolution of sirenians: Status of knowledge and research needs, in Proceeding of the 1st Internatio...

They are funky for sure, and cute in a way too. Thanks for introducing me to the manatee (repeating it so I may actually remember their name).
